Cellulite: what really works
Cellulite, or 'orange peel', affects a huge number of women, including slim ones. It is not a disease, but it is easy to be disappointed, because there are many promises around it. We write about what actually helps and what not to expect.
What cellulite is
Cellulite is skin irregularity on the thighs, buttocks and abdomen. It forms in the subcutaneous tissue: fat cells push towards the surface between weakened connective tissue fibres. It is influenced by hormones, genetics, circulation and lymph stagnation, as well as weight changes and lifestyle.
What not to expect
No single cosmetic, massager or one-off treatment will remove cellulite permanently. Cosmetics and brushing can support the skin, but on their own they are rarely enough. The realistic goal is smoother skin, better firmness and better circulation. The result lasts longest when treatments are combined with good habits.
What works: the treatments we offer
The choice depends on whether the problem is mainly the tissue structure, loose skin or lymph stagnation.
- Endermologie Alliance: a mechanical massage combined with vacuum stimulation improves blood and lymph circulation and stimulates fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin. The treatment takes 40 minutes, and the recommended series is 10 treatments.
- Stratosphere: a contouring massage with heads with mini-spheres, combining compression and vibration. It improves firmness, supports lymph outflow and tissue oxygenation. The treatment takes 35-55 minutes, and the series is 6-10 treatments.
- Venus Freeze: radio waves raise the skin temperature and help firm and smooth it. The treatment takes 30 minutes, and the series is 6-8 treatments.
- Morpheus8: microneedling with radiofrequency works deeper, firms and smooths the skin. It is a treatment for people who want a stronger effect. 1-3 treatments are needed, and the recovery period lasts up to 10 days.
- Anti-cellulite massage: intensive massage techniques stimulate microcirculation and lymph outflow. It lasts 60 or 90 minutes.
Why it is worth combining methods
Each method works a little differently. Massages and LPG improve circulation and tissue structure, radio waves firm the skin, and microneedling additionally stimulates it to rebuild. That is why at the consultation we usually propose a plan of two or three elements, not a single treatment.
What you can do every day
Regular exfoliation, dry brushing and good hydration help. It is an addition to the treatments, not a replacement for them.
When a treatment is not recommended
We do not perform body treatments, among other cases, during pregnancy, with thrombosis and phlebitis, with active infections and skin inflammation, and with cancer. With treatments using radio waves it is also important to tell us about a pacemaker and metal implants. You will find the details on the page of each treatment.
How much time is needed
The first effects are usually visible after a few treatments, and the full effect after the series is finished. A series usually takes a few weeks, and then it is worth maintaining the result. The pace and effect depend on the severity of the cellulite and your lifestyle.
